Honor Magic6 camera flagships supposedly solves a known problem with the same 1-inch

According to a new leak, the Honor Magic6 series of smartphones will be equipped with a huge 1-inch sensor which will also be used in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and would solve a well-known problem in smartphone photography.

Popular leaker Digital Chat Station recently shared some details on Weibo about the possible and interesting features of the upcoming Honor Magic6 series. According to his information, the smartphones in this series will be the first to be marketed with the OmniVision OV50K sensor. This is the same sensor that, according to a leak a few weeks ago, is also expected for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

The yet-to-be-released successor to the OV50H in 1/1.3 inch format, which can be found among others in the iQOO 12 (Pro), will be presented in 1 inch format and will offer 50 MP. It would be on par with the 1-inch Sony IMX989. The leaker also talks about the brand new LOFIC technology which would solve a known problem in smartphone photography.

LOFIC stands for “Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor” and is intended to prevent overexposure in bright scenes. This occurs when too much light hits the sensor in particularly bright environments and can lead to overexposure and loss of detail when converted to the electronic signals for which the sensor is responsible. The OmniVision OV50K is supposed to solve this problem with LOFIC by not using excessive load above a certain limit, so that detailed and authentic recordings are possible with high brightness.

Additionally, the Honor Magic6 model series will include Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, eye tracking and other exciting features along with satellite communication. However, it remains unclear whether there will be a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens in the series, as was speculated a few months ago for the Honor Magic6 Ultimate.
